Daves guide for gaining focus or attention No one can train a dog if it isn’t interested in them first and no one can train a dog if it isn’t looking at them, at least not initially. My formula for training any dog to do anything is:
Attention – cause the dog to be interested and look at you intently. You need to be interesting to the dog, or have some resource it sees as valuable. This may be food, toys but it can be anything your dog desires at that time Once this is achieved use the object of desire to lure and guide the dog. Reward the dog with this cherished commodity the very second it performs (or attempts) the task. Make your dogs tail wag!! These videos are a great starting point for anyone, but to learn all the skills you need to really enjoy your dog then why not book a session with Dave Davies. Dave is available for one to one training and behaviour consultations. If you live in the North East and would like to book a please phone 01325722339 or 07563749946.
