Little Snorters was set up in March 2010 inspired by The Meet up Group (ran by Nick Chutter and his frenchie, Hugo.)
It's a fun friendly group for people owned by Pugs, British Bulldogs, French Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. Over the last four years, we have raised over £10,000 for animal charities throughout the region through our various events, beach walks, woodland walks, adventure day, summer bbq, snorter washes( taking over a local grooming parlour) and parties for Valentines, Easter, Halloween and Xmas. Most of the organisation is carried out by me ( Leah O'Sullivan and my ( long suffering and exceptionally tolerant husband) Peter with additional help from the admin team, Vicki and Justine. The group strives to dispel myths that our breeds are unhealthy and lazy as well as having as much fun as we can, educating people about our breeds and raising some cash for well deserving charities along the way.
The main reason behind Little Snorters is my pug , Frankie who will be 8 in November .I always knew I would get a pug once I got my own place and was in the process of saving up for one when my dad surprised me with Frankie. He was sitting in a washing basket chewing the red bow around his neck and I was immediately in love. I have always been a huge animal lover and cat owner but have always been drawn to pugs and other flat faced breeds. Once I got Frankie , I wanted him to have some playmates and started Little Snorters. The group has surpassed any expectations I had as we now have over 2000 members on our facebook group and all of our events are well attended.
My pugs are my whole world and being able to give them brilliant socialisation opportunities makes it all worthwhile. Since I founded Little Snorters I have also been able to support/volunteer and foster for local charities and have also take up the role of pug welfare rehoming co-ordinator for the North and Scotland. The one downside to spending so much time with fellow snorter fanatics is how much money you spend on snorter merchandise as one of the big parts of the facebook group is sharing any " finds". I can't resist them and own a wardrobe full of snorter tshirts and socks! Although I do take things to an extreme level as my pugs were my page boys and I also have pug tattoos
We have some great snorter supporters out there who help us with various things and who also appreciate that the group is and always has been for the dogs. All of the events focus around our dogs having fun and socialising.
